“War 2” Trailer Ignites Global Buzz Ahead of August Release
In a dramatic unveiling today, Bollywood heavyweights Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani headline the much-anticipated “War 2” trailer, setting social media ablaze and marking a milestone moment for Indian cinema. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the sequel to the 2019 spy-thriller War is poised to debut in theatres worldwide on August 14, 2025.
Released this morning, the 2-minute 35-second trailer introduces audiences to a high-stakes battle of wills. Hrithik Roshan’s character, agent Kabir, delivers a voiceover pledging to abandon his name, identity, and allegiance to become a “ghost.” In response, Jr NTR, portraying agent Vikram, appears dramatically shirtless aboard a ship, vowing to become something no one has dared before—setting the stage for a riveting hero-villain conflict. The trailer’s spectacle includes blistering fight scenes, breathtaking visuals, and powerful dialogue: “He is a soldier. You are a soldier. And this is War!”.
Amid the intense rivalry, Kiara Advani emerges as a standout, engaging in high-voltage action sequences alongside Hrithik. This marks her first major action-oriented role, and her chemistry with Roshan—switching between romance and combat—has garnered widespread fan enthusiasm.
The trailer set internet platforms ablaze, crossing half a million YouTube views in just 30 minutes. Comments like “Bollywood is back” and “Two legends. One war. No mercy.” dominated the conversation.
In Melbourne, Jr NTR fans took their devotion to the skies—literally. Promotional jets painted “NTR” and “War 2” across the city skyline. What was meant as fanfare caused panic among residents unaware the stunt was promotional in nature.
Yash Raj Films has announced that War 2 will be the first Indian film to release in Dolby Cinema in India, delivering an immersive visual and audio experience for viewers. With its release also planned in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, the film has set grand expectations as a pan‑Indian theatrical spectacle.
War 2 continues to build YRF’s broader Spy Universe, following blockbusters such as Pathaan and Tiger films. Hrithik Roshan returns as agent Kabir, and the film promises to further deepen the franchise’s narrative complexity and action scale.
Actress Vaani Kapoor, who appeared in the original War (2019), recently reflected on her absence from the sequel, sharing no regrets and congratulating the production warmly. Her professional attitudes underscored the sequel’s positive momentum.
