Nothing Phone 3 Debuts: A Bold Leap into the Flagship Arena

Today marks a pivotal moment for Nothing as it officially unveiled the Nothing Phone 3, branding it its “first true flagship” and signaling an aggressive move into the premium smartphone market.

Launch Details & Global Rollout

The global launch took place at 10:30 PM IST (18:00 BST) from Nothing’s London headquarters, streamed live via YouTube. The device debuts in international markets—including the US and India—with pre-orders opening July 4 and retail sales starting July 15.

Pricing Snapshot

US/UK/EU: Starting at $799/£799/€799 for the base 12 GB + 256 GB model; the top-tier 16 GB + 512 GB variant will cost $899/£899.

India: Marketed as a premium flagship, with suggested retail prices of ₹79,999 (12 GB/256 GB) and ₹89,999 (16 GB/512 GB); with bank and exchange offers, effective launch prices could dip to ₹62,999 and ₹72,999.

Design & Display

Nothing retains its signature semi-transparent aesthetic but introduces a new asymmetrical, “tri‑column” rear design—crediting inspirations like Game Boy and PS2 nostalgia.

Primary screen: 6.67″ LTPO AMOLED, 1.5K resolution (2800×1260), 120 Hz refresh, Gorilla Glass 7i front, Gorilla Victus back, peak brightness of 4500 nits.

Glyph Matrix: New back‑panel micro‑LED grid (~25×25 LEDs) replaces old Glyph light strip. It shows custom patterns, alerts, widgets (clock, recording light), and even mini‑games like “Glyph Toys”.

Power & Performance

The Phone 3 is powered by Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 (4 nm), representing a modest but meaningful upgrade:

Performance gains vs Phone 2: +36% CPU, +88% GPU, +125% AI.

Variants: 12 GB RAM / 256 GB storage and 16 GB / 512 GB.

Battery: 5,150 mAh silicon‑carbon cell (5,500 mAh in India) with 65 W wired, 15 W wireless, and support for 100 W fast-charging in select regions.

Camera & Imaging

Nothing has gone big with its camera setup:

Triple 50 MP rear: Main (f/1.68, OIS/EIS), ultra‑wide (f/2.2), and periscope telephoto (f/2.68, OIS), offering 3× optical and up to 60× digital zoom.

50 MP front camera (f/2.2) with autofocus—significantly upgraded selfie setup.

Macro samples released pre-launch showcased stunning close-up clarity at 10 cm distance.

Software & Unique Features

Nothing OS 3.5, based on Android 15, powers the OS experience. Highlights include:

Essential Space: AI-powered workflow hub for screenshots, transcript summaries, and memories, accessed via the physical Essential Key.

Flip to Record: Face-down placement triggers live transcription and conversation summarization.

Dedicated AI tools like screenshot insight, voice reminder creation, and universal search via the Essential Key.

Commitment to 5 years of Android updates (up through Android 20) and 7 years of security patches.

Positioning & Market Context

Nothing aims squarely at established flagships—iPhone 16, Galaxy S25, Pixel 9—with a comparable price tag, unique design, and long-term software support.

Though it lacks Snapdragon 8 Elite, the 8s Gen 4 chip still delivers high-tier performance while prioritizing efficiency.

U.S. and Indian Market Plans

A key milestone: Nothing’s first official U.S. launch, with pre-orders July 4 and sales July 15.

In India, it’s stocked across Flipkart, Vijay Sales, Croma, and offline stores from July 15, available in black or white variants.
